Basic Certification Part One & Two
The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires the employer to establish a Joint Health and Safety
Committee(JHSC) at a workplace with 20 or more workers.

Certification isn’t just for your JHSC members. It offers other workplace parties a chance to build on
their health and safety expertise.

Course Content:
Joint Health & Safety Committee
Certification Part One:
(2 days $415 + GST)
Part One Participants will work towards becoming a certified JHSC member while learning about the
Health & Safety System in Ontario.
Theoretical Component:
- Occupational Health and Safety Law
- Joint Health and Safety Committees
- Hazard Recognition, Assessment and Control
- Specific Safety Hazards
- Workplace Health Effects and Hazards
- Workplace Inspections
- Accident Investigations
- WSIB Test

Course Content continued:
Joint Health & Safety Committee
Certification Part Two: Manufacturing
(2 days $415 + GST)
Part Two participants will gain the tools to recognize, assess and control workplace hazards. Upon
completion of Part Two, students will receive certification by WSIB.

- Machine and Equipment Safety
- OHSA Act and Regulations
- Guarding, Lockout and Hazard Controls
- Mechanical Materials Handling
- MSD Disorders and Manual Materials Handling
- Chemical Safety
- Walking and Working Surfaces
- Specific Safety Hazards
